What the architects say:
Our client sought to preserve this 150-year-old barn and transform its 1,700-square-foot interior into a workshop and entertainment space. The design team reinforced the structure with custom Douglas fir glulam beams and trusses, strengthening the original floor and roof members. Cantilevered beams were also added to support a second-floor deck. The end wall was replaced with a striking glass curtain wall that stretches from the ground to the gable. The interior showcases reclaimed wood siding from the original barn, meticulously stripped of paint to reveal its natural beauty. On the exterior, the barn was revitalized with new red cedar lap siding, trim, and a bronze standing-seam metal roof.
