Approach to Stoneview Spa

Stoneview Spa

A family retreat that captures
quintessential Maine.

A Maine escape

When longtime clients requested the addition of a tranquil spa on the family’s Sheepscot River property, we presented an unexpected design that would evolve and meld to their needs.

A break from tradition

With the river as our guide, the building rests in a meadow landscape, capturing classic Maine waterfront views. Stone and steel make the structure’s frame and exterior, providing a natural impression to the overall build. Facing the river is a wall of nearly all glass, making the water as much a part of the space as anything on the inside.

An adaptable space

Eventually, a kitchen, common area, office, and loft were all added to the design. Stoneview Spa is a place where the family can not only workout and rejuvenate but also entertain, focus, and rest. Outside, the patio, featuring a hot tub and dining area with a pizza oven, invites gatherings.

A crisp palette

Inside, neutral tones and natural materials, including Maine-quarried granite and red cedar roofing and trim, create a calming, indoor–outdoor experience. Views of the surrounding landscape—pines, tides, and meadows—infuse the rooms through glass facades.

Family connection continued

A place for family and friends to decompress and reconnect, to each other and the natural setting, Stoneview Spa will pass down through the family for generations to come.
